Our Mission
MY Museum provides an environment where curiosity and creativity flourish, while both children and adults discover the thrill of lifelong learning.
Situated in the heart of Monterey, California, MY Museum is a place where little and big kids learn new skills, build confidence, and explore their creativity, in a fun, safe, and vibrant environment.
Our immersive exhibits and hands-on programs create an unparalleled learning experience, with nine gallery areas and over 50 exhibits. Each gallery playfully represents the key industries that make Monterey County unique.

Museums for All
At MY Museum, we believe that EVERY family with young children should have the opportunity to visit the museum regardless of their socio-economic status.
As a partner of the Museums for All program, MY Museum offers reduced admission to families experiencing challenging circumstances. We also offer discounted field trips for school students, with free admission for teachers and chaperones.

Community-based, Community-led
We are committed to making MY Museum a community-based organization. That said, we donate hundreds of passes each year to other nonprofits, both raising money for their causes through auctions and raffles and distributing the passes to families they serve who cannot afford to attend the museum due to socio-economic factors.
We also provide workforce development to many high school and college students seeking their first job. These opportunities provide a supportive environment for learning and growth and help develop the basic work ethic skills needed to continue on their career paths.

We’re not just here for little kids! MY Museum is a place where all members of the family are welcome.
Our interactive programs and exhibits are designed to help kids explore their creativity, develop critical thinking skills & problem-solving abilities, and play through dance and movement.
Caregivers, parents, grandparents, are encouraged to join in and (re)learn how to play!
● OUR STORY
MY Museum
Since 1997, the Monterey County Youth Museum (MY Museum) has provided children with an unparalleled learning experience.
MY Museum began as a Junior League project and has since evolved into a community-based, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.
Prior to moving into its current facility in November 2008, the museum occupied a 2,700-square-foot facility on Cannery Row. The original facility was successful for its size, but never really allowed the organization to grow as the staff and board envisioned. After purchasing a building in downtown Monterey and successfully completing a four-year capital campaign, the museum is now where it once only aspired to be.
The museum is approximately three times the size, with nine gallery areas and over 50 exhibits. Each gallery playfully represents the key industries that make Monterey County unique.

EBT/SNAP/WIC Cardholders – $2 Admission
If you have an EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), or WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) card, you and your family are invited to enjoy discounted admission through our Museums for All Program.
Admission is just $2 per person, up to 4 people per card.
Access for All tickets must be purchased in person. When you arrive, simply show your EBT, SNAP, or WIC card along with a valid photo ID at the admission desk to receive the discount.
